Volunteers place flowers on parking meters

LAURA JAMESON/THE EXPRESS

Americorp members Cindy Andrews, middle, and Odren Polk, right, and Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. intern Jeanna Selts, left, place flower pots in baskets on top of parking meters along East Main Street yesterday afternoon. Each year, Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. purchases pots of flowers to be placed in baskets on top of meters to help bring color to the downtown area. This year, East End Greenhouse put together over 40 baskets with the help of Deb Burrows and the Clinton County Master Gardners. “The flowers mean a lot to the towns people because it helps beautify the town and Downtown Lock Haven is trying to keep the image of downtown alive,” Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. Manager Samantha Eisenhart said. The flowers have been placed just in time for the city’s annual Best of Clinton County event and parade on Saturday, June 29.
