BEECH CREEK — Life Scout Thomas Vilello IV of Troop 54 Beech Creek/Blanchard recently completed his Eagle project.

Vilello’s project was the restoration of the Church Road (aka Fritz/Schwartz) Cemetery located in Gallagher Township where the first settlers and descendants to the area are buried ranging from 1849 to 1952.

The project included locating field and head stone markers, restoring broken head stones, leveling bases, mounting headstones to bases, straighten leaning head stones, placing fill in sunken graves, cleaning stones, a tree removal, seed and ground cover.

Thomas will have his Eagle board of review later this summer earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Above the rank of Eagle, scouts can earn Eagle palms for every five merit badges above the 21 required. Thomas has earned 55 merit badges and will receive six palms.

The project was sponsored by Peoples United Methodist Church of Caldwell.

Thomas would like to thank the membership for their donations funding the project and to his family and troop for helping with the project.
