Excitement is building for Scenic Road Race

LOCK HAVEN –The Rally for Recovery committee is excited.

Volunteers have signed up. Food and drink contributors are on board. Signs have been made.

The 3.1 mile route has been traveled more than once or twice and water stations are mapped out, along with specific areas where fire police will be providing safety for race participants.

And, the registrations keep coming in.

At last Tuesday’s committee meeting the 100th pre-registration was received, bringing smiles to committee members planning the first ever Scenic Road Race at this year’s Rally for Recovery on Saturday, Aug. 17.

The committee hopes those registrations keep coming in.

If you haven’t signed up yet, do it now.

You can even register the morning of the event at the Piper Building on East Bald Eagle Street, where the race will begin at 10 a.m. and take participants through a portion of the city into Castanea Township and then along the creek road to Castanea Picnic Grounds.

Everyone is invited… male and female, children and adults. Runners and casual walkers.

There will be gift cards and medals for male and female overall winners and those who come in first in age divisions.

At the picnic grounds there will be vendors, with an emphasis on resources for good health, fitness, nutrition, chiropractic care, massage therapy, art therapy, substance use disorder treatment providers, medical assisted treatment providers, family support and recovery. There will also be free food, drink, music and games.

The Rally is an annual event of Advocates for a Drug Free Tomorrow and West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission celebrates those in recovery and promotes prevention and wellness.

Online registration is available with Falcon Race Timing at https://falconracetiming.com/event/rally-for-recovery-5k-lock-haven-pa/

Registration is $15 plus a $3 fee to the racing company. Those who pre-register will receive t-shirts.
