Free screening of ‘The Anonymous People’ is Friday

From Staff Reports

LOCK HAVEN — A free screening of the film “The Anonymous People” will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Dunnstown Fire Hall, 119 Woodward Ave. in Lock Haven.

“The Anonymous People” is a feature documentary film about the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs.

Nancy Hackenberg, owner of Be One LLC Fitness Center is sponsoring the free screening.

“The movie ‘The Anonymous People’ is one of the stepping stones on this journey to a healthier community,” Hackenberg said. “There is so much heart in Clinton County, aka home. It’s just been broken so many times that we lost our way.”

The powerful documentary explores the deeply entrenched social stigma of addiction, a preventable and treatable health condition and tracks the passionate public recovery movement as courageous recovery advocates lay it all on the line and come out of the shadows to tell their stories.

According to Hackenberg, it won’t take much to begin healing the community.

“Our community needs to heal in order for people in long term recovery to heal and grow stronger. It is a ripple effect of love and acceptance. Let’s be honest … we all have ugly stories. Let’s face it … we are all in recovery for something. I wanted to do something to start the healing process of this community that I call home,” Hackenberg said.

In addition to Be One LLC Fitness Center, the screening is made possible by West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission and the Dunnstown Fire Hall.

Tri County Church North Central will provide drinks and snacks for the screening.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

“Please join me on Aug. 9 to not just watch a movie. Let’s break the silence of pain, let’s join together to Love First and let’s create a home for healing.”
