‘Light Up The Field’ to feature BASD sports teams, Velveeta

Student-athletes, coaches, parents and Bellefonte community get another chance to check out the new-and-improved Rogers Stadium

BELLEFONTE — Rain in the forecast postponed night No. 2 of “Light Up The Field” at Bellefonte’s Rogers Stadium, but things are expected to go off without a hitch for night No. 3.

Tonight, the stadium will be open for the general public as they get to check out the new field, bleachers, press box and all the amenities at the new-and-improved Rogers Stadium. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The $7 million project is nearing completion and will be ready for the Red Raiders’ first home game of the season on Friday, Aug. 23 against Jersey Shore.

Tonight, the Bellefonte Area High School sports teams will be introduced for the first time at their new field.

The Bellefonte girls’ soccer team hits the field at 5:30 p.m., followed by track and field at 5:40. Cross country gets introduced at 5:50 p.m., followed by football at 6, boys’ soccer at 6:10, wrestling at 6:20 and lacrosse at 6:30 p.m.

The popular central Pennsylvania band Velveeta will play following the introductions for approximately 45 minutes.

The Red Raider football team won its first game at the field last year, defeating rival Bald Eagle Area in the 2018 regular season finale.

The Lady Raider soccer team will host the stadium’s first soccer games, playing host to the Raider Classic on Saturday, Aug. 31.
