Dead Centre podcast

released by Katie O’Toole

STATE COLLEGE — Katie O’Toole, president of the Centre County Historical Society, has released the 8th in a series of podcasts titled “Dead Centre” about little known aspects of Centre County, its history, places, and people that give the county its unique sense of place.

Inspired by the most recent exhibition, “Up, Up and Away: Sherm Lutz and the State College Air Depot” — Dead Centre podcast #8: “Centre County’s First in Flight” takes you into the world of early airmail pilots who flew blindly across the Allegheny Mountains, stopping in Bellefonte, on the first leg of the transcontinental airmail route, and hear from Bob Hines whose Uncle Dan Hines wrote an early history of the airmail pioneers.

Access the podcasts on the Centre County Historical Society’s website at CentreHistory.org/podcasts/ or subscribe to Dead Centre on your smartphone or other device.
