SPCA to hold ‘Paw-liday’ pet photo shoots

LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County SPCA is gearing up for the holiday season with mini photo shoots for people and their furry, scaly or feathered family members.

The sessions will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lock Haven Citizens Hose Fire Company.

The sessions cost $10 and are by appointment only. Those who are interested in participating are asked to call the SPCA at 570-748-4756.

Hanford Photography will be taking the photographs.

Santa Claus will be present for the sessions but does not have to be included in the photo. Two edited images will be available in an online gallery for you to download at your convenience.

Langston exhibit at

Ross Library

LOCK HAVEN — Mary-Jo Langston, returned Peace Corps Volunteer and current STEP AmeriCorps member, presents “Mementos of a wonderful life in service to my human family”, for the month of September in the Edythe Hoy Bossert Gallery at Ross Library.

The exhibit contains some of her collection of fabric, garments, toys and books collected while serving in Senegal, Cameroon, and Fiji.

Gallery talks led by Langston will take place Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6:30 p.m.

LOCK HAVEN — September is Museum Month, so take the opportunity to learn about the six different museums in Clinton County.

Get a Clinton County Museum Passport at the Downtown Lock Haven Inc. office or at one of the six participating museums–Beech Creek/Marsh Creek Heritage Museum , Heisey House Museum, The Greater Renovo Area Heritage Park Association, Piper Aviation Museum, Red Hill Fossil Museum, and the Sugar Valley Historical Society Museum.

Visit the museums, get your passport stamped or initialed, fill in the information on the last page and turn the Passport to any of the participating museums by end of business on Sept. 30 to be eligible for a prize.

You could win an airplane ride around the county; a stay-for-two in a 1941 restored Caboose, and more. Prize winners will be drawn during the first week of October.

Farm-City Family Festival is Sept. 21

MACKEYVILLE — The Farm-City Family Festival and County Health Fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

The event celebrates agriculture’s important relationship to its urban neighbors in creating stronger and healthier communities. This free, family oriented event has lots to offer for all members of the community.

The celebration will include a 5K color fun run (all proceeds benefit the Life Center and Merit House), goat milking contest, milk chugging contest, farm and antique farm equipment on display, pedal tractor pull, demonstrations, pie eating contest, children’s crafts and games, and much more. There will be a number of vendors participating in the Health Fair as well as craft vendors on hand to show their wares. There will also be food vendors. The public is invited to come and enjoy some good family fun.
