Shoe Bank to give free, new shoes this Saturday

LOCK HAVEN – Kids pick out a new pair of sneakers or shoes, parents get a break with their budget, and volunteers enjoy happy smiles. That’s what the Shoe Bank is all about. It’s a simple idea: free, new shoes for kids and teens who need them.

The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will be open Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

Families may come from throughout Clinton County and the Liberty-Curtin Elementary attendance area. Kids and teens must be accompanied by an adult and have their Medical Access card, CHIP card, or similar type of insurance card. An agency also may referral a family.

Anyone who knows a family who can benefit from this service is encouraged to pass the word along.

The free new shoes are available in a variety of brands. They come with a free new pair of socks, and kids are encouraged to take home a free book. All of this is made possible by donations and grants including one from the Clinton County Community Foundation.

For more information about the Shoe Bank or on how to become a volunteer, contact Diahann at 814-571-5324 or lhasb@outlook.com.
