LHU, CMMS choirs to present veterans’ concert

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven University and Central Mountain Middle School choirs will come together from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the Price Performance Center to present a concert in honor of military veterans.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Solid Waste Authority offers scholarship

McELHATTAN — The Clinton County Solid Waste Authority is offering a John B. Hoy Jr. Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 during the 2019 – 2020 school year.

The applying student, a high school senior or a college freshman, must be a resident of Clinton County.

Application deadline is Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital to host Veteran’s Day dinner

JERSEY SHORE– Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital is hosting a Veteran’s Day dinner for all veterans in Lycoming and Clinton counties at 5 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov.6. The dinner will be served at the Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital cafeteria, 1020 Thompson St., Jersey Shore. Those interested are encouraged to reserve their seats by Monday, Nov.4.

“We are privileged to honor and pay respects to all those who have served our country,” said Dr. James Young, chief medical officer, Geisinger North Central Region. “As a veteran myself, this event is very near and dear to my heart.”

Parking to access the cafeteria is in the Kerr Avenue parking lots.

Geisinger was recently recognized for its commitment to U.S. military veterans and their families by being named to VIQTORY’s 2020 list of Military Friendly Employers. Further strengthening this commitment, Geisinger also announced a new, two-week paid leave benefit for employees serving in the Reserves or the National Guard, effective Sept. 15. Under the new leave policy, service members employed by Geisinger will be paid for time at annual trainings, encampments and drills. Both part- and full-time employees employed by Geisinger for at least six months are eligible for the benefit.

Centre County Historical Society to host award ceremony

STATE COLLEGE — The John H. Ziegler Hisstoric Preservation Awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at Centre County/Penn State Visitor Center.

The award ceremony is hosted annually by the Centre County Historical Society to recognize projects, individuals and organizations for significant contributions in historic preservation and/or preservation of historical resources in Centre County.
