County auditors attend PSACO Convention

LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County auditors, Michelle Crowell, Rita O’Brien and Peggy Heller, recently attended the 57th Annual Pennsylvania State Association of County Auditors’ Convention, held in St Mary’s, Elk County.

The Elk County auditors hosted the event and Crowell, president, presided over the meetings. She will be serving another year as president of the association.

The auditors stayed at the Cobblestone Inn and Suites where they attended educational sessions pertinent to conducting a County Audit, a number of these are accredited courses. Some of the topics included Detecting and Preventing Internal Fraud, a presentation from the Administrative Office of Pa Courts concerning the District Justices and Prothonotary audits, Hotel Tax Updates, and the District Attorney’s Drug Forfeiture Accounts.

The auditors toured Elk County and went to Benezette to the Elk County Visitors Center.

Michelle Crowell and Rita O’ Brien sought re-election this year and Peggy Heller retired after having audited for a total of 16 years.

Brooke Fravel replaced Heller as an auditor following the 2019 election.
