Tailgate to kick off

United Way campaign

CASTANEA — Get your tailgate on at the Castanea Fire Department picnic grounds to help kick off the Clinton County United Way’s 2019 -2020 Campaign!

Enjoy watching Penn State take on Minnesota for a noon kickoff on the big screen inside or from your camper.

JB’s Festie Foods, Bloom Sum and The Grilled Cheese Cafe will have their food trucks onsite with a variety of different foods during the event.

Ticket price is $15 per person which includes snacks and drinks inside during the game and a chance at $25,000 if there is a kick return that leads to a touch down for Penn State.

Bring your campers, grills, coolers, food and drinks just like you would in Happy Valley!

A camper pass is only $30.This is a family friendly event to show your Penn State pride and your support for the Clinton County United Way. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the United Way office at 570-748-7856 or from any United Way board member.

Workplace Seminar

LOCK HAVEN — Drug Free Workplace PA will be hosting a seminar about signs and symptoms of drug use in the workplace and the tools and techniques for reasonable suspicion on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at Susque-View Home, 22 Cree Drive, Lock Haven.

Business owners, human resources managers and supervisors are invited to attend the seminar that will cover topics such as substance use and its effects on the brain; the emotional, behavioral, and physical effects of drugs and alcohol; effective communication techniques and confidentiality; the dos and don’ts for supervisors; and when an incident occurs.

Holiday Decorating Contest

JERSEY SHORE — The Recreation Committee of the Borough of Jersey Shore and Revitalize Jersey Shore Area are teaming up to sponsor the first ever Holiday Decorating Contest. The contest is open to all residents and businesses in Jersey Shore.

Residents received their registration form in the borough newsletter. Registration can be done by mailing in the form or emailing the borough at programco@jerseyshoreboro.org. Entry forms must be received by 4 p.m. Dec. 5. Judging will be the week of Dec. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. Winners will be announced Dec. 20. All prizes are gift cards as follows: First place, $50; second place, $25; third place, $15. For a complete list of rules please visit the borough website.

Revitalize Jersey Shore Area is visiting businesses with registration information and contest rules. All businesses must be within the borough of Jersey Shore. Registration must be done by 4 p.m. Dec. 5, either by contacting us on the FB page Revitalize Jersey Shore Area or by email rjsa1826@gmail.com.

Judging will be the week of Dec. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. Winners will be announced Dec. 20. The winning business will receive a write-up in the Lock Haven Express.
