Veterans Day activities and events

LOCK HAVEN — Veterans Day is next Monday, Nov. 11, and there are numerous activities and events planned to honor our veterans on their special day. The Express has received information about the following event.

NOV. 6

— Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital is hosting a Veteran’s Day dinner for all veterans in Lycoming and Clinton counties at 5 and 6 p.m. The dinner will be served at the Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital cafeteria, 1020 Thompson St., Jersey Shore. Those interested are encouraged to reserve their seats by Monday, Nov.4. For more information and reservations call 570-398-3182.

NOV. 9

— Lock Haven University will honor veterans during the halftime of LHU Military Appreciation Game. The game begins at 1 p.m. Veterans get in free.

NOV. 10

— Veterans Concert will be held at 3 p.m. at Price Performance Center at Lock Haven University. LHU and Central Mountain Middle School choirs will perform. Free and open to the public.

NOV. 11

— Robb Elementary School will hold a school-wide Veterans Day celebration at 9 a.m.

— Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at Durrwachter Alumni Center on Lock Haven University campus. Open to public.

— Bucktail Middle/Senior High School will host the annual Veterans Day Assembly Program on in the Dale Florey High School Gymnasium. The assembly will begin at 9:30 am. The theme of the assembly this year is “Heroes Among Us.” There will be singing, video presentations, speeches, and refreshments to honor our veterans.

— Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on the steps outside Centre County Courthouse.

NOV. 18

–Veterans Dinner will be held at Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center at Lock Haven University. It’s a free Thanskgiving-style dinner to express appreciation to all U.S. servicemen and women. Seating is limited to 200 people. Veterans may bring one guest. Call 570-893-4339 by Nov. 11 to reserve a seat.
