Children at Busy Bees Daycare enjoy special visitors

PHOTO PROVIDED Local law enforcement officials visited the Busy Bees Daycare Center in Blanchard recently.

BLANCHARD — Busy Bees Daycare invited local law enforcement to a meet and greet with the children.

“The police are here to keep us safe and protect us,” said Callen Bechdel of Blanchard when asked what the job of a police officer was.

On Friday, troopers from PSP Rockview along with the Centre County Sheriff’s Office visited Busy Bees Daycare in Blanchard.

“The police car is super cool,” said Alyssa Rickert of Mill Hall when asked what her favorite part of the visit was.

“Several times a year I like to bring in members of our community to meet the children. We have had the Beech Creek/Blanchard Fire Company, North Central Sight Services and the Centre County Library visit in the past but I felt this was the perfect time to emphasize to the children that our law enforcement officers are here to help and not be feared,” said Tonya Fisher, owner/director of the daycare.

In return for their visit, the children at Busy Bees made the officers special thank you baskets and of course had to add in a couple dozen donuts.

“We are a small daycare in the middle of a small community. The impression that these officers and deputy made on the children today will carry on for years. I personally want to thank Sheriff Bryan Sampsel for helping us make this possible and the Pennsylvania State Police for their time and dedication to the children of our entire state. Today, you made an impact,” said Fisher.
