On the order of Gov. Tom Wolf, flags on all facilities, public buildings and grounds in Clinton County are flying at half-staff to honor David G. Closs Sr. of Avis, who died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020. Closs was an active member of the Avis Fire Co. and the Fraternal Order of Police. He worked for 21 years as a police officer in Marcus Hook and Kennett Square.
McElhattan United Methodist Church will sponsor a filled meatloaf dinner, take-out only with curbside pick-up, beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. One dollar of proceeds will benefit the Wayne Township Multi-Sport Complex. The menu includes filled meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, roll and peach cobbler.
Concert Sunday at Talleyrand
In light of the numerous cancellations due to COVID-19, the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association is pleased to announce the extension of their Sunday evening summer concert series in Talleyrand Park, Bellefonte. On Sunday, Aug. 31, the concert will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your own chair and please wear a mask and practice social distancing. In the event of rain, the concert will be canceled. The series will feature Western Range and their toe-tapping Texas music.
Mark your calendars for Labor Day Weekend. Despite the COVID-19, Lock Haven Area Jaycees are keeping their 50-year tradition alive. The boat races have been canceled, but the Jaycees have lined up an entertaining weekend nonetheless as all the regular vendors and bands will be on Water Street and the traditional fireworks on Sunday night will have a special surprise for local residents. Watch for more details as the event nears.
