Samantha Machmer named BPW Girl of the Month
JERSEY SHORE — The Business and Professional Women’s Club Girl of the Month for October is Samantha Lorraine Machmer, daughter of Stephanie and Brian Machmer of Cogan Station.
Samantha’s activities include softball, Homecoming Committee, Lycoming Youth Leadership, one year; Track and Field, YWCA, National Business Honors Society, two years; FBLA, Tennis, Basketball, National English Honors Society, Relay for Life, four years.
Samantha has served as the FBLA treasurer during her ninth grade year, FBLA social media manager during her 10th grade year, FBLA reporter during her 11th grade year, and the FBLA president during her 12th grade year. She is also the varsity tennis team captain served during her senior year.
Outside of school, Samantha attends her church youth group, volunteers her time with the Relay for Life Bulldog Cancer Chompers, volunteers with the New Love Center, and is a member of the YWCA Junior Circle of Champions. In addition, she also volunteers her time helping in the Jersey Shore High School Life Skills classroom.
Samantha is a student on the Distinguished Honor Roll, was named Jersey Shore Lioness Club’s Student of the Month, and named the Williamsport Chamber of Commerce Student of the Quarter. She took first place in Economics at FBLA Regionals, and placed sixth in the American Enterprise Project at FBLA States. Samantha was named the JV softball team’s Most Improved, tennis team’s Most Improved Player, basketball team’s Most Improved, and has received the Basketball Coaches Award and Tennis Outstanding Doubles Team. She is also a tennis varsity letterer and basketball varsity letterer.
Samantha enjoys playing tennis, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She plans to major in Occupational Therapy.
