Old Photo Album Update: Howard Township Fairview School


Pictured are students from the Howard Township Fairview School in 1935 with their teacher Alice Confer, far right. Fairview School, three miles east of Howard near Route 220 was rebuilt in 1906 following a fire in January of 1905 that destroyed the original school built about 1880. For a time, school was held at the adjacent Fairview E.U.B. church. The school was abandoned in 1956 and used as a private dwelling. Pictured, first row from left, is Ross Hogan, Leonard Thompson, unknown, Gordie Confer, Lordie Bittner and Paul Thompson. Second row, unknown, unknown, Mary Kline, Dorothy Marsden, Merium Confer, Violet Confer, Florence Thompson, Herbert Fletcher, unknown, unknown, unknown, unknown and Don Vonada.
