The New York Central Railroad rented the rails owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad. The NYC was in the process of designing a railroad line that would follow the river along the south side. The New York Central would have run through South Renovo had it not been for the stock market crash.
The 5th annual Lenny Young lll Memorial Shotgun Shoot will be held on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southern Clinton County Sportsmen’s Club in Loganton. A 50 round sporting clay shoot will take place at cost $20 registration fee. Raffles, 50/50, food and drinks available for purchase. Proceeds go to the Keystone Foundation for the Lenny Young lll Memorial award, given to Central Mountain Gradating YHEC students who are pursing higher education. Event is coordinated by Emery Gunsallus, a senior at Central Mountain High School, as his senior project.
Phelps Chapel United Methodist Church, off the Pine Creek exit of Route 220, will be holding a Peach Festival on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.The festival will feature homemade ice cream, hot dogs, hamburg barbeque, macaroni salad, baked beans, peach cobbler and peach pies.
