BPW names Gerst October girl of the month

JERSEY SHORE — The Business and Professional Women’s Club Girl of the Month for October is Madelyn Louise Gerst, daughter of Jill and John Gerst of Jersey Shore.

Madelyn’s activities include the following: Student Council, Renaissance Club and Red Cross Club for one year; for two years basketball, cross country, National Spanish Honor Society and yearbook; for four years Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Key Club, National English Honor Society and track and field.

Madelyn has served as the team captain for the varsity tennis team during her senior year, along with serving as the treasurer of the Key Club and president of the Student Council during her senior year as well.

Outside of school, Madelyn volunteers her time with the Fairlawn Community Church Camp and works at Red Lobster as a hostess.

Madelyn is an FBLA States qualifier during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. She has also lettered in cross country as a freshman and sophomore, lettered in tennis during her junior and senior years, and lettered in track and field during her freshman, junior, and senior years. Madelyn has received the Outstanding Freshman Award and the Outstanding Athlete Award both in Track and Field. She also received the Most Improved Award in basketball. Madelyn is also a student who has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll during all four years of her high school career.

Madelyn enjoys hunting, fishing, going to Florida on vacation, reading, roller skating, and bowling. She plans to attend Bucknell University to major in Business Management.
