Witches meet at Millbrook

Fans of 1993 film “Hocus Pocus” may feel this image is reminiscent of the movie. However, this performance of “The Unwicked Witch” at the Millbrook Playhouse took place in the 1970s. Seated is Mary Kay Gentzyel, of Lock Haven, or Mary Probst. Mary grew up, raised a family, worked at Lock Haven University and retired all in the Lock Haven region. The other three ladies were Millbrook apprentices, possibly from New York City. They received room and board and, when the summer was over, had worked on nine or so shows to put on their resumes.
