Historic tours resume on July 8

LOCK HAVEN — The historic tours for the Ross Library will return on July 8 after being on a one-week hiatus. There will be no tour on July 1 due to the holiday weekend, but the historic walking tours will return for the remaining Fridays in July.

The tours are led by library staffer and local historian Lou Bernard, and each tours takes a different route or theme and shares facts and stories about Lock Haven’s history that can’t be found anywhere else. All tours begin on Friday nights at 7 p.m. and take roughly an hour.

The remaining schedule is: July 8: Mayors of Lock Haven; July 15: Rivers and Oceans; July 22: “For The Love Of Helen” Tour; July 29: Weird, Wild Lock Haven.

Covenant Cafe to meet July 5

LOCK HAVEN — The Covenant Cafe, an early stage Alzheimer’s activity group, will meet on Tuesday, July 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

The group will participate in a Patriotic Sing-a-long with Covenant Cafe volunteer Pam Blesh at the piano and guest Kay Bossert leading the singing. An ice cream social will follow the singing and a game of Patriotic BINGO featuring red, white and blue prizes will close out the session.

The public is invited to attend.

The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Covenant United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the Alzheimer’s Association. The group meets the first and third Tuesday of every month from 1-3 p.m. at the church.

Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible. New members are always welcome.
