New location: Confer’s Jewelers now off Bellefonte/Zion exit

BREANNA HANLEY/THE EXPRESS A large crowd gathered at Confer’s Jewelers new location for a three-day grand opening recently.

BELLEFONTE — Confer’s Jewelers has moved to a new location, right off Exit 83 on I-99, at 1074 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte.

Monteca Confer Beisel, whose parents started Confer’s Jewelers in 1977, has been running the business with her husband since acquiring it.

The new location has numerous improvements from their last, with a bigger indoor space and areas for picture opportunities. They even have a section for kids to entertain themselves while their parents shop.

“We wanted to have more space,” said Confer Beisel. “We’re really excited to have more space for everyone to come in and have fun with us. We have a lot of good picture opportunities outside… We hope people visit us and have fun.”

One of the big improvements that came with the space was the additional parking in the lot next to the store; featuring 37 parking spaces — with each having unique and humorous signs.

“Reserved for jewelry lovers” and an image of a set of earrings with “Help! We’re trapped inside the showcases in Confer’s! Please set us free!” are just two of the signs in front of the parking spaces.

Acquiring the space was in the works for a year and a half, according to Confer Beisel. She and her husband designed the whole building themselves, from the windows to the showroom.

On the outside of the building is a gorgeous mural with the words, “leave a little sparkle everywhere you go” as well as an archway in front of the diamond shaped windows for photo opportunities, #ConfersCouple.

The store is closed Monday and Sunday, with hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The grand opening for the new location of Confer’s Jewelers was held recently and featured drinks, food and prizes as well as a giveaway for those who attended.
