Holiday House opens at McElhattan Nature Park
McElhattan– The community, friends and families recently came together to mark the grand opening of the Wayne Township Holiday House at the Nature Park in McElhattan. It was a truly magical event that kicked off the festive season with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Holiday House has been a dream of the Wayne Township recreation committee for years, and seeing it come to life was a moment of joy for everyone involved.
Dave Calhoun, a Wayne Township Supervisor, highlighted the collaborative effort that made the Holiday House possible in his speech. “The Wayne Township Holiday House was truly a joint effort between the recreation committee, community and township supervisors,” he said. The project raised a total of $8,200 from generous donations by businesses, townships, friends and individuals, which was then matched by the Wayne Township Supervisors for a grand total of $16,400. The construction was skillfully completed by BK Styers Construction, ELS Construction and Bob Klobe. As a token of gratitude, the recreation committee presented two white benches, which will be a mainstay outside the Holiday House for years to come.
Attendees enjoyed refreshments provided by Avenue 209, adding a warm touch to the chilly night. It was heartwarming to see everyone united, creating memories and enjoying the festive atmosphere. The Wayne Township Holiday House is now officially open and ready to welcome visitors on Dec. 15 and 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. Santa Claus himself will arrive in style in a Wayne Township Fire Truck, making the holiday season even more special for the community.
