UPMC Family Hospice seeks blanket donations for veterans

WILLIAMSPORT — UPMC Home Healthcare of Central Pennsylvania and Family Hospice are calling on the community to help honor local veterans this Veterans Day through donations of homemade blankets. These blankets bring warmth and comfort to patients in hospice care, with patriotic-themed blankets given especially to veterans, in collaboration with the We Honor Veterans program.

“Every blanket symbolizes the care and gratitude our community holds for those who served,” said April Hartzel-Lewis, clinical manager, UPMC Family Hospice. “We’re honored to help ensure that veterans feel recognized and appreciated during this stage of care.”

Blanket Specifications:

— 52″ x 76″ (twin)

— Quilted, knotted and crocheted blankets are accepted

— Must be new, soft material, preferably cotton

— Red, white and blue, patriotic or service-specific blankets accepted for veterans.

Blankets can be dropped off at UPMC Home Healthcare of Central Pennsylvania and Family Hospice, UPMC Williamsport Divine Providence Campus, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Suite 4S, Williamsport. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
