Frigid temperatures couldn’t keep a multitude of community members from coming out to show support for a local organization. The Second Annual Freezin’ for a Reason, hosted by Precise for Paws, Inc., was held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Haywoods on the Green in Bald Eagle Township. Several people, both youth and adults, took on the challenge of plunging into Bald Eagle Creek. With showers of snow falling, it truly made for a cool one, and the excitement among the participants was palpable. The best moments were when friends dared each other to take the plunge. One youth participant stood out by winning the longest plunge for youth at an impressive 12 minutes. Bree Hilty and Luke Motter took home the title for adults with a remarkable 23-minute plunge. The 2025 Freezin’ for a Reason was assisted by the Citizens Hose No. 5 dive team, ensuring the safety of all participants while in the water. To warm up, T-shirts and hot chocolate were handed out, making it a perfect end to a thrilling day. Proceeds from the event benefits Precise for Paws, a non-profit organization which assists with the care of animals in the community.
