Wayne Twp. Rec Committee provides updates
McELHATTAN — Summer is in full swing and brings upcoming events in Wayne Township and continued work at its parks by the township’s recreation committee, making them the best they can be for residents near and far.
WALK TO REMEMBER
On May 18, the recreation committee in conjunction with Truck Lite held its first “Walk to Remember.” A very special thanks to all who participated, to Kim Vance who sang the National Anthem and Pastor Laura Gilbert from McElhattan’s Pathway to Christ Church for the very moving prayer of remembrance. Truck Lite provided flags for all participants followed by light refreshments.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Scoop up your friends, grab the family and join others for a sweet, sprinkle covered day of ice cream, laughter and community fun. Activities for the whole family will be available. Join the recreation committee on Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m., for an ice cream social. This event is sponsored by the Wayne Township Landfill and Weis market.
YARD/BAKE SALE
The Wayne Township recreation committee will hold a yard/bake sale on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Wayne Township Visitor Center, 2 McKinney Road, near the ballfield. In addition to this yard sale, there are town wide yard sales in McElhattan.
The McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, at 502 McElhattan Drive, will be holding a fundraising meal of a pulled pork barbecue platter with coleslaw, baked beans, macaroni salad and cake on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal cost will be a donation of your choosing.
