Animal Farm reading

The Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association and the Centre County Library are collaborating to offer a public reading of George Orwell’s Animal Farm from start to finish on Saturday, Oct. 11. The reading is part of the Library’s observation of Banned Books Week. Ten readers will read Orwell’s famous fable outside the Bellefonte Library at 200 N. Allegheny St. from noon to around 3:30 p.m. There will be chairs for the audience and light refreshments for readers and listeners.

Bellefonte Cash Bingo

Cash Bingo will be held at St. John’s Catholic School, 116 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte, to benefit the Bellefonte Knights of Columbus. Doors will be open to the public for food, plenty of homemade baked goods and dinner items, and small games of chance at 6 p.m., with Bingo starting at 7 p.m. The cost to play is $20 for 20 games, and the payouts will be $850 each month. Bingos will be held on the second Monday of each month from September through June.

Bingo dates are Oct. 13; Nov. 10; Dec. 15 (note the change); Jan. 12, 2026; Feb. 9; March 9; April 13; May 11; and June 8.

The school is a smoke-free facility and walk-ins are welcome to come to play Bingo.

Haunted Renovo Tour

Join paranormal investigator Lou Bernard for a haunted walking tour of Renovo! The tour will include true, researched history, folklore and general weirdness from Renovo and Chapman Township! The tour begins Oct. 26, at Renovo Heritage, 530 Erie Avenue, Renovo. Tour will begin at 6 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour. Dementia and Alzheimer program

The public is invited to attend the free program on Dementia and Alzheimer, hosted by The Colonel Hugh White/Colonel John Chatham Chapter of the DAR with guest speaker Fran Decker. The program will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m., at Annie Halenbake Ross Library 232 W. Main St., 3rd floor, Rebecca Gross Room. South and salad dinner

Judy Densevich Memorial All You Can Eat Soup and Salad Dinner; Monday, Oct. 27, at Bellefonte Knights of Columbus, 315 Stoney Batter, Bellefonte. (Knights of Columbus is up the hill from the Dollar General). Soup will be served from 11 a.m.-until 7 p.m., or until the soup runs out. Featuring at least 20 homemade soups, numerous salads, breads and plenty of homemade desserts, the cost is only $10 for eat in or take out. Quarts of soup are also available to-go for only $10.
