LOGANTON — The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Clinton County have scheduled two Holiday Greens Workshops for December, Creating Holiday Centerpieces and Creating Holiday Wreaths.

The first workshop will be held on Dec. 6, at the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Participants can choose to make a holiday centerpiece or wreath. For more information and to register contact Dawn Jefferies at djeffries@svrcs.org or 570-367-1351.

The second workshop will be held on Dec. 13, at the Mary Ann Bower Learning Center, 47 Cooperation Lane, Mill Hall, where participants can choose to make a holiday centerpiece or wreath, or both! The centerpiece workshop runs from 9-10:30 a.m. The wreath workshop begins at 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.

This annual hands-on workshop features everything you need to create your own festive arrangement with plenty of holiday greens including native Eastern White Pine, Douglas Fir, boxwood, yew, Sea Green juniper and winterberry berries, all locally sourced. Kathy Gillen will teach Creating Holiday Centerpieces, while Ginny Counsil, Master Gardener Coordinator, will teach Creating Holiday Wreaths.

Workshop participants will learn to identify a variety of natural materials to make their own holiday decorations. The cost of each workshop is $45 and includes the centerpiece planter or grapevine wreath, greenery, inserts, foam, wire and ribbons. Accessories will be available for an additional cost. If you bring your own centerpiece container or wreath, you will receive a $5 discount.

Preregistration is required as space is limited to 25 participants at the workshop in Sugar Valley and 40 participants at the Penn State Extension office. Walk-ins are welcome on a first come, first-served basis.
