Water bottle filling stations a welcome addition at CMMS

The students at Central Mountain Middle School would constantly be leaving class to fill their water bottles up, causing them to lose learning time. So to help the problem, as a 6th grader Cassidy Martin (now an 8th grader) brought the idea of water bottle filling stations to the PTSO and Enrichment teacher Mrs. Onuskanich thought it was a great idea.

In the fall of 2017, they began funding the stations by hosting fundraisers at places around the town of Lock Haven like Odd Fellas and Wendy’s. The PTSO, Mr. Evey, Mr. Baughman, and Mrs. Onuskanich advertised all the fundraiser nights and eventually, a year and a half later (the spring of 2018), the money that was needed was raised.

Late in the 2018-2019 school year, they began installing the water bottle filling stations.

The first one to be installed was right outside of the gymnasium because it is centrally located for all the students, especially for after P.E. Then over the summer leading into the 2019-2020 school year, the school added three more located in 6th grade hallway, 7th and 8th grade hallways. Mrs. Onuskanich and Cassidy “thought our school deserved them” to make our school more enjoyable.
