Diabetes prevention program coming to Jersey Shore
JERSEY SHORE — A free diabetes prevention program is coming to the Jersey Shore area.
The program, being organized through Geisinger Wellness Department, will be held in the Community Room at the Jersey Shore Hospital on Wednesdays, beginning July 10, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The classes are open to anyone, regardless of insurance, who is 18 years of age or older and who has pre-diabetes or is at risk for developing diabetes. Classes meet once per week for the first six months and once a month for the second six months.
David Bellomo, MS, Wellness Associate II, of Jersey Shore, will be the teacher.
The program can help people lower chances of developing diabetes through healthy lifestyle changes. Trained coaches can help people lose weight, increase physical activity and identify healthy choices.
This program is led by a trained coach and is open to the public at no charge.
