Local attorney to speak to support group

Margaret Stockdale

LOCK HAVEN –Margaret Stockdale, an attorney with Marshall, Parker and Weber, will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Alzheimer’s and Caregiver’s Support Group at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 in Conference Room B of Susque-View.

The topic will be “How to Shop for the Right Nursing Home.”

Attorney Stockdale is a 2014 graduate of Bucknell University, with degrees in Economics and Political Science and is a lifelong resident of Lewisburg. Following her college graduation, she moved to New York City to work as a paralegal in hopes of one day going to law school. After one short year, she followed that dream and moved to Pittsburgh to attend Duquesne University School of Law. Maggie graduated from Duquesne University School Law in May of 2018. She passed the Pennsylvania Bar in October of 2018, and is excited to return to the area as a practicing attorney at Marshall, Parker & Weber. Attorney Stockdale Maggie is active as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and a supporter of Camp Koala, a non-profit organization that provides grieving children with the tools and resources to help them manage their grief in a healthy way, and to offer companionship in a supportive environment.

While many families of dementia patients are able to keep their loved ones at home, there often comes a time when more care is needed than what families and community resources can provide. Attorney Stockdale will help families learn about the various levels of care, how to research the available residential care resources, what to look for and what questions to ask when considering placement for a loved one. Even if placement is not imminent, this session will be helpful to families in doing long range planning.

The Support Group is free and open to anyone caring for someone with memory loss and to those interested in learning more about this topic. It meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in Conference Room B of Susque-View. For more information or to request sitter service for a loved one while attending the meeting, call Fran Decker, MSW, Support Group Facilitator at (570) 748-4302.
