Geisinger welcomes ophthalmologist to Lycoming County
WILLIAMSPORT– James Kasenchak, M.D., a vitreo-retinal specialist, recently joined Geisinger Ophthalmology’s team and is now seeing patients at Geisinger Williamsport Ophthalmology and Geisinger Port Matilda Ophthalmology.
Dr. Kasenchak earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed an internship at Allegheny General Hospital and a residency in ophthalmology at Geisinger Medical Center. He completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at West Virginia University, where he was also a comprehensive ophthalmology clinical instructor and enjoyed teaching resident physicians in the university’s residency program.
His clinical interests included medical and surgical management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, dislocated lens implants, macular puckers, macular holes, retinal tears and detachments. He works with his patients and their doctors to provide personalized quality care for diseases of the retina and vitreous.
Dr. Kasenchak is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Vit-Buckle Society and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Dr. Kasenchak has been a sub-investigator for clinical trials for new treatments related to neovascular age related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema.
