LOCK HAVEN –Investing can be tricky. Diversified Asset Planners makes it easy.

At Diversified Asset Planners, or DAP as it is commonly called, they take pride in being able to help those trying to navigate the world of investing.

According to its mission statement, DAP offers “experienced retirement planning through processes that have been tested by time in any market.” It also “works toward providing clients with financial security in uncertain times and taking the worry out of financial management.”

DAP is located in the heart of downtown Lock Haven at 126 E. Main St.

It also has an office in State College at 1524 W. College Ave.

“DAP has been in business for over 30 years,” explained Bob Thompson, a registered representative of DAP. “This will be our 13th year in Lock Haven.”

The business was founded on June 10, 1987 by four individuals, including two current representatives – Donald Leitzell and Nicholas Accordino.

DAP has evolved to having 10 planners and seven administrative assistants who manage over $700 million in client assets.

DAP does a little bit of everything, Thompson explained.

“We do everything from retirement planning, investment planning, individual savings and life insurance,” he said. “We do small business retirement plans as well.”

DAP also handles rollovers from retirement plans. “That’s probably one of the biggest portions of our business. People are retiring; they have a 401k or another type of retirement plan they need help rolling over into their own IRA. We are here to help them with that process.”

At DAP, Thompson said, the main focus is on the need of the clients. They meet with clients mainly by referral and believe private one-on-one meetings are most effective when discussing such confidential and life-changing events such as retirement and financial allocation.

According to DAP’s website, its No. 1 strength is service. DAP aims to serve the client first whether the market be good or bad. Representatives closely monitor the market and make conservative but rewarding suggestions to the best of their ability.

DAP’s goal is to help clients gain a better understanding of the financial concepts behind insurance, investing, retirement, estate, planning and wealth preservation. Most important, it hopes clients see the value of working with skilled professionals to pursue financial goals and understanding the opportunities and potential reward that are available when taking a proactive approach to client’s personal financial situation.

“We, at DAP, are here to help educate investors about the basic concepts of financial management; help them learn more about who we are; and give them fast, easy access to market performance data. We hope you take advantage of this resource and visit us often. Our website provides information defining different plans, calculators, and articles giving insight into the daily market. Our online videos will give you a better idea of how to handle the variety of financial situations you may be handling.

Thompson said that DAP is extremely focused on the community. “We are very community-oriented. We sponsor several local events such as the Clinton County United Way Sports Night & Fine Auction, the Lock Haven YMCA Black & White Ball and the Summer Concert Series. We also support most local sports and sponsor several youth sports teams.”

In Lock Haven, DAP employs three representatives and two assistants.
