Pass It On

Pass It On Community Outreach will continue to offer free clothing, shoes and accessory items in 2015 and is adding new dates for next year. Pass It On, located in the house at 610 Frederick St., Flemington, next to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, is open on selected Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Next year, starting in January, it also will be open on selected Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For upcoming dates, watch the Sunrise section of Saturday’s Express.

BCB Community Center

The public is invited to a Beech Creek-Blanchard Community Center meeting on Jan. 12 beginning at 7 p.m. The center, which has been struggling financially, recently selected a new board, who will be sworn in at the upcoming meeting. The public’s input is vital to the center’s success going forward. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development invites the public to a seminar on how to receive help with home repairs through the Direct, Guaranteed and Housing Repair programs. CM boys’ basketball

On Friday, the Wildcats will host Mifflinburg with the varsity starting at 7:30 p.m. This event will be part of Central Mountain’s “Support the Sports Night” and you can get in free if you participate in the theme. How to get in free? Well, just make a donation to the SPCA upon entry to the game. There will be a foam cheering noodle give-away to the first 100 people. Apparel for the night will be blue. Before the game the LHU faculty and staff will compete against the CM faculty and staff in a game that will tip off at 5 p.m.

Youth Hoop Shoot Contest

The Bellefonte Elks Local Hoop Shoot Contest is set for Saturday, Jan. 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the Bellefonte Area High School Gymnasium. The bad weather date is Sunday, Jan. 11 at the same time. Boys and girls ages 8 through 13 are invited to participate in this free throw contest. Winter reminder

The city reminds residents that sidewalks and footpaths covered with ice or snow must be sprinkled with salt, cinders or other anti-skid material. And, when the wintry stuff accumulates to an inch or higher, we have 24 hours to shovel it off or possibly be fined. Don’t shovel or blow snow from sidewalks or driveways into the street, though. Not only is it dangerous to traffic, it also can result in a fine.

Roads board

The Clinton County Conservation District Dirt and Gravel Roads Quality Assurance Board will meet on Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. at the Conser-vation District office, 45 Cooperation Lane, Mill Hall.

150th Closing

A Flemington Holiday Gathering will wrap up the borough’s 150th year Sunday, Dec. 14 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ. The gathering is free, with carol-singing, refreshments, kids’ crafts, the passing of the baton to the Flemington Prince and Princess, an ornament project for children to commemorate the 150th anniversary, and more, including the last chance to contribute a note for the time capsule, which will be sealed that day.

Youth Hoop Shoot Contest

A Whistle Stop Train Show is slated for Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Woodward Fire Hall, Route 220, Williamsport. Pets on parade

The friends of the Clinton County SPCA invite all pet owners who adopted their pets from the local SPCA to join them in the Lock Haven Christmas Parade tomorrow. Meet at the corner of Henderson and East Main street at 5:30 p.m. Parade starts at 6.

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is slated for 5:30 to 8 p.m. tonight and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at Covenant United Methodist Church, Lock Haven. Attendees will have an opportunity to view about a dozen decorated trees, and bid on them via a silent auction as well.

Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, at St. John Lutheran Church on South Broad St. in Jersey Shore from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crafts, greens and baked goods will be available for sale. A lunch platter of hot dog, chili dog or hamburg barbeque will be served. From 4 to 6 p.m., a turkey and biscuits dinner will be served for a donation, with take-outs available. The public is invited to attend and enjoy good food and holiday fun.

Soup sale

Mill Hall United Methodist Church, 212 Danis St., is taking orders for ham and bean soup. Pickup is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To order, phone 570-726-6360. Walk-ins also are welcome. Remember to bring your own container.

Senior projects

Susque-View Home, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is in need of high school student volunteers. Students willing to commit to hours at the facility may count them as part of their required senior project. She is seeking people to help her coordinate and conduct a community outreach program at “The View.” Susque-View says it appreciates all of the many volunteers who assist in resident activity programs.

Bountiful Blessings, a ministry that gives free hygiene and cleaning supplies to local families in need, can use your unwanted coupons. You can donate coupons for toilet paper, paper towels, deodorant, disposable razors, shampoo and-or conditioner at United Evangelical Lutheran Church, First and West Church streets, Lock Haven (behind Kentucky Fried Chicken) or with volunteer Wendy Seyler. Bountiful Blessings is open from 9 to 11 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month and from 6 to 8 p.m. the third Wednesday.

SPCA seeks

coolers

With cold weather upon us, there’s always a chance for a tragic end for stray felines. The SPCA is making a general request for “Omaha Steak” or equivalent coolers. A volunteer will convert them into kitty shelters. If you have those coolers, call Ginny Reeder at 570-748-6106 and she will gladly pick them up from you.

Gingerbread

contest

The Clinton County Arts Council is hosting their first Gingerbread House Contest. Put together your own creation at home, snap some photos and send them to CCAC123 @verizon.net. The winning creations will be placed on display at the CCAC Holiday Party, slated for Dec. 12 at the Station Gallery, 2 E. Bald Eagle St., Lock Haven. Winners will be given a prize. Please send images by Saturday, Dec. 6 for consideration. Anyone who needs help entering or taking their images may email the Arts Council for assistance.
