Spring clean-up

Spring clean-up continues at Swissdale Cemetery. All remaining decorations should be removed immediately and new ones may be placed in the cemetery on April 4.

Chicken barbecue

A chicken barbecue will be held at Marion Grange Hall, Jacksonville, along with a bake sale, on Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. until the chicken is gone, which should be around 2 p.m. Meals include half a chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad and roll. Fishing derby

Independent Hose Co. #1 in Jersey Shore is hosting the Sixth Annual Indoor Fishing Derby, Saturday, April 11 at the fire house at 130 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Jersey Shore. Doors open at 11 a.m. and fishing starts at noon and will go until 4 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. Food and beverages are available. Starting a

The Bellefonte Chamber is hosting an Entrepreneur Workshop at 7 p.m. April 23 at the Bellefonte Train Station. Neuter & release

The Trap/Neuter/ Release program for community cats will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at Avenue 209 Coffee House, 209 Bellefonte Ave., Lock Haven. The program is sponsored by the Clinton County SPCA to help control the populations of ownerless cats in the county and to give the cats a chance at better health.

Farmers Breakfast

Spaghetti benefit

More Garth Brooks concerts have been added at Bryce Jordan Center. The Centre County commissioners’ meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 at 10 a.m. has been cancelled as the board will be attending the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) Conference in Harrisburg.

8,000 eggs!

The third annual egg hunt sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys will be held Saturday, March 28 at 3 p.m. at Long Run Park, Rote. Some of the 8,000 eggs will contain coupons for food, balloons, photos with the Easter Bunny, and dollar bills. Kids will hunt in age groups, and each group will have three different winners. First prize is a bicycle. Families are advised to arrive early for good parking, asked to bring donations for the Kiwanis food drive, and reminded to bring a camera.

Trip to D.C.

Soup, bake sale

A “Homemade Soup & Bake Sale” slated for Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jacksonville Emmanuel United Church of Christ will be the last of the season. Park Day

Highland Cemetery in Lock Haven will again participate in the national Park Day effort to spruce up historic sites. Park Day 2015 is Saturday, March 28, and cemetery volunteers are asking for as many helping hands as possible to join them on that day, beginning at 9 a.m., to improve the cemetery at the top of Akeley Lane.

Friendship Bazaar

Spaghetti dinner

Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church will hold a spaghetti dinner at the Mill Hall Fire Hall on Saturday, March 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. Famous sauce with spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, drinks and homemade cake desserts will be served. Relay benefit

Cora’s Crew Relay for Life team is hosting its sixth annual benefit at Browns Hill Tavern on Saturday. The kitchen will open at 11 a.m. with a portion of the food sales benefiting the team. The fifth annual Bunny Run held by the Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club will be March 28. JERSEY SHORE- All participating donors at a blood drive here on Saturday will receive a free St. Patrick’s Day T-shirt.

The drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Road in Rauchtown.

March is Red Cross Month, which is dedicated to the everyday heroes who support the Red Cross mission by giving blood, volunteering their time, learning lifesaving skills or making a financial contribution.

Eligible donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative blood.

Anyone 17 or older (16 with parental permission) may give blood. Adults who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may donate. Donors 18 and younger have to meet other height and weight requirements. Double red blood cell donations have their own set of requirements.

Donations take about an hour, and donors are asked to bring photo identification. To sign up for a time slot, visit www.redcrossblood.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or use the new Blood Donor App available for free on iPhone and Android. Walk-ins also are welcome at all blood drives.

Lock Haven University has rescheduled its annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Price Performance Center, featuring author Tayari Jones as the speaker.

Friendship Bazaar

The Friendship Community Center of Beech Creek and Blanchard Bazaar will take place Friday, March 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wood and homemade crafts, Scentsy products, Damsel in Defense, Avon, face-painting and more will be found there.
