MACKEYVILLE — Fifteen “pretty princesses” from ages 2-14 delighted the crowd at the Princess Contest Saturday afternoon at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

Parents, grandparents and friends clapped non-stop and were not disappointed as the adorable girls strutted onto the stage and talked – or didn’t talk- to emcee Roger Elling, who did a fine job in his first appearance at the contest. He laughed, joked and even sang a few lines trying to entertain the audience as the judges tallied their scores in the four age divisions.

The event, sponsored by Embellish Salon, is always one of the first on the fair calendar and got the 45th Annual Clinton County Fair off to a good start.

In the youngest age division — 2- 4 years old — there were six competing for the title of Tiny Tot Princess.

Wearing the crown as Tiny Tot Princess and sitting on the royal throne was Rylee Jo Shady, 4, daughter of Seth and Justine Shady of Loganton. Rylee enjoys singing and tumbling, playing with kittens and her little brother Joshy. She loves animals and wants to be a real life princess and a farmer when she grows up. Asked what her favorite animal is at the fair, she replied loudly, “piglets.”

First runner up in the Tiny Tot division was Addalyn Parker, 3, daughter of Samantha and Mitchell Parker of Mill Hall. Addalyn has a dog Kaydo and a cat Sissy and she likes animals and anything that has a motor in it… like her daddy’s truck. She, too, wants to be a princess when she grows up.

Second runner up for Tiny Tot Princess was Torieona Patrick, 3, daughter of Arieona Thompson of Lock Haven. Torieona wore a pink ruffled outfit with matching bow in her blonde curls. She has two pets, Dory and Beta. Torieona likes to collect stones and is excited about starting dance classes.

Taking the blue ribbon for the best talent was Kenidi Mae Hasband, 3, daughter of Emily Riggle of Castanea. She sang a song…a wonderful song…holding the microphone and standing tall while singing her little heart out.

Other contestants in this age group included Brantleigh Stover, 2, daughter of Brook and Colton Stover of Mill Hall, and Brennah McKinney, 2, daughter of Kirsten Morse and Jesse McKinney of Lock Haven.

Next to take a seat on the throne was Mia Davy, 5, daughter of Sharon and Joey Gerhard and Mallory and Aaron Fisher of Mill Hall, who was crowned Little Miss Princess in the 5-8 year-old age group. Mia, who twirled for her talent… made the crowd dizzy as she spun around all over the stage. Mia keeps busy taking care of her dogs, cats, chickens and fish and playing with her two brothers. She’ll attend kindergarten in the fall and said she wants to be a McDonald’s helper or a cop when she grows up.

First runner-up for Little Miss Princess was Rebecca Bechdel, 5, daughter of Grant and Angela Bechdel. She loves playing with her dogs, Elsa and Lucky, and her cat, Furball, and keeps busy swimming and playing video games. When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor. Rebecca will enter kindergarten in the fall.

Second runner-up was Megan Geyer, 8, daughter of Mike and Julie Geyer of Mill Hall. Megan likes to ride horses and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Megan also took the blue ribbon for the best talent in this age group. She performed a tap dance.

Other girls competing in this age group were Carlee Breon, 5, daughter of Autumn and Derik Breon of Loganton, and Jasmin Kramer, 8, daughter of Shauna Seyler and John and Ashley Kramer of Loganton.

In the third age group — 9-12 years old — there were three candidates vying for the title of Miss Princess.

Taking the crown was Leeah Eisenhower, daughter of Craig and Tina Eisenhower of Beech Creek. Leeah showed her athleticism as she performed a cheer routine, which also gave her the blue ribbon for the best talent. She loves competition cheerleading, softball, basketball and volleyball and when asked what she likes best about the fair, responded with a resounding “everything. I like everything about the fair.”

First runner-up for Miss Princess was Skyenne Kramer, 10, daughter of Shauna Seyler and John and Ashley Kramer of Loganton. Skyenne said she likes to bake, swim and dress fancy… appearing in a beautiful blue gown. She wants to be a baker and a scientist when she grows up.

Second runner-up was Emily Dawn Bechdel, 10, daughter of Nichole and Jay Bechdel of Mill Hall. Emily’s talent was solving 24 Challenge cards quickly and amazed the audience as she added, subtracted and multiplied numbers as Elling held them in front of her. Emily likes to read and play soccer and is a Girl Scout and a 4-H member, who shows animals at the fair. She said she likes pretty much everything at the fair, “but most of all, I like that animals.”

In the oldest age group — 13-15 years old — there was only one candidate, Adysyn Lynn Phillips, 14, daughter of Neil and Linda Phillips of Beech Creek. Adysyn, who performed a cheer routine, was crowned Junior Princess. She likes to cheer, read and draw and will be in the ninth grade this fall. Asked how she would attract more teens like herself to the fair, she replied simply, “more food.”

This year’s judges were Rachel Eisenhower of Blanchard, Suzette Miller of Loganton and Dave Shreckengast of Loganton.

Robin Seyler was chairman of this year’s Princess Contest; Jennifer Jeirles was co-chair. Committee members included Jessica Jeirles, Sharon Stover and Abby Foster. Also helping out at the contest were the 2014 Clinton County Fair Queen Mallory Foster and the 2016 Clinton County Fair Queen Carly Walizer.
