Joe Davidson wants sixth term as Centre recorder

STATE COLLEGE — Centre County Recorder of Deeds Joe Davidson of College Township has announced his intentions to seek the Republican nomination for a sixth term in office.

Davidson has served as the Centre County Recorder of Deeds since January 2000.

He is a graduate of State College Area High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from Penn State University. He is an active member of the Boalsburg Fire Company, State College Elks Lodge #1600, State College Lodge #700 F&AM, Bald Eagle FOP #51, Boy Scouts of America, and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

The Recorder of Deeds’ primary function is to record, preserve, protect and reproduce legal documents relating to property transfers and real estate records within Centre County. Another major role for the Recorder of Deeds is to act as the official collection agent for the state realty transfer taxes and fees. The Centre County Recorder of Deeds office collected and disbursed over $21 million in 2018.

Davidson was first elected Recorder of Deeds in November 1999. Since taking office, Davidson said he has improved the efficiency and customer experience of the office by staying current with technology, implementing e-recording and leading the project to develop Pennsylvania’s most advanced public-access internet system known as WEBIA.
