Armed robber hits store in Castanea
State police looking for suspect
From staff reports
CASTANEA– Police are on the lookout for a man who robbed the Fuel On convenience store late Friday night.
Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse said the crime occurred about 10:40 p.m. Friday at the store at 200 S. Hanna St. in the township.
A black male used a dark colored sedan and parked down the road from the store. He then walked approximately 50 yards to the store and committed the robbery, Strouse reported.
The suspect is described as about 5-feet, 7 inches tall.
He was wearing a black doo rag with what appears to be dread locks sticking out of the back, sunglasses, black shorts and black T-shirt, with white and black sneakers, police said.
The male brandished a pistol with his right hand that he was concealing in his waistband or right front pocket, according to Strouse.
The pistol has a silver slide and a black grip.
Police said the robber made demands for cash from all three registers and then six packs of Newport cigarettes. He then fled the store in the southern direction toward his vehicle. It is unknown if he had any accomplices.
