Jersey Shore school board raises tax rate

JERSEY SHORE – The Jersey Shore Area School District on Monday night voted to raise taxes to 100 per cent of the index which is 3.2 percent.

The measure passed by a 5-3 vote. Voting for the tax increase were Karen Stover, John Pecchia, Mary Thomas, Kelley Wasson and Craig Allen. Voting no were Merrill Sweitzer, Michelle Stemler and Harry Brungard. Christopher Fravel was absent.

The exact details of what this action will mean to the millage rates were not available at press time as the board had gone into executive session to discuss legal matters.
