BELLEFONTE — Friends and family of Centre Care board member Carl Raup lined up on July 18 at Centre Crest to pie him in the face as part the nonprofit’s fundraising campaign to build the county’s newest healthcare facility.

Raup sold 10 pies at the cost of $100 each. He even contributed $100 from his own wallet so that Centre Care Administrator Andrew Naugle was also pied in the face.

“It was a lot of fun and I’m happy we raised some money for the new facility,” Raup said. “It’s not every day, your old Little League coach gets to pie you in the face.”

The money raised will go toward a staff campaign to raise $8,000 for the facility’s new home under construction on the Benner Pike. The new healthcare facility will offer traditional long-term care, as well as three specialty neighborhoods that are in high demand for Centre County residents — a memory care neighborhood of which there are few in the area; a high acuity neighborhood for patients with complex medical conditions; and a short-term rehabilitation neighborhood.

The site also has room to grow and expand services in the future.
