Paving on Route 2002 in Centre County begins Monday

BELLEFONTE –The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) issued an update on a project that will see improvements to more than 22 miles of roadway surface in Centre and Clinton counties. Work scheduled for the coming week is as follows:

In Centre County, the contractor will begin paving operations on Route 2002 (Airport Road) near Bellefonte Monday, Sept. 23. Flaggers in the roadway will enforce an alternating traffic pattern. Motorists are urged to exercise caution. This is expected to be a one-day operation.

The contractor will complete construction of ADA compliant curb ramps on Route 550 from Spring Street to the Bellefonte High School on Monday and begin ADA compliant curb ramp construction on Route 3006 (North Thomas Street) from Railroad Street to High Street. This work is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24, through Friday, Sept. 27. Traffic impacts will be minimal.

In Clinton County, the contractor will begin ADA compliant curb ramp construction on Route 150 between Bressler and Fairview streets. This work is scheduled to begin Friday, Sept. 27 and continue the week of Sept. 30.

Overall work will include milling, installation of ADA compliant ramps, and retaining wall updates on sections of 14 routes in Centre County and one route in Clinton County. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $4.1 million project, which is expected to be finished by late October. PennDOT will issue updates on this project as work locations change.
