Renovo Reading

The Bucktail campus held their 5th annual Reading Under the Lights recently as parents and students joined Bucktail and Renovo Elementary faculty on the school’s football field to not only read but enjoy a number of educational activities. Reading Under the Lights was held immediately after kindergarten open house so the field was filled with young students getting the unique experience of being on Dwyer Memorial Field with the lights on. Student athlete volunteers also held various stations on the field. Above, Bucktail senior and defensive standout for the Bucks Liam Dwyer leads a group of students in an educational sing-a-along. Below, Bucktail senior cheerleader and softball player Rachel Goss (right) held one of the more energetic stations that included jumping rope. The majority of the younger students are well aware of the names of varsity athletes which makes the night even more of a memorable occasion interacting with the upper classman. The staff on the Bucktail Campus, PTO and Principal Betsy Dickey make the evening possible which also includes pizza, drinks and other snacks. The American Legion Post 442 of Renovo donated the grand prize — a 2019 Samsung Chrome Book and sleeve cover which was won by Kennadee Ballard.
