BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — A fire on the night before Thanksgiving took down a home in Bald Eagle Township.

The fire, which began around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, quickly engulfed the home, which was owned by Steve and Theresa Eldred. The home was located along Selfe Road, which is just of Campbell Road in Bald Eagle Township.

A total of 10 fire companies responded to the blaze, including Mill Hall, Lock Haven, Flemington, Beech Creek, Lamar Township, Avis, Nittany Valley, Dunnstown, Sugar Valley and Castanea.

Steve Eldred was home at the time of the blaze and called in the alarm. No one was injured in the fire. Firemen used a nearby pond to help extinguish the blaze. Although the home was a total loss, they were able to save nearby structures.

The home was still smoldering as of Friday morning.

The State Police Fire Marshal will investigate the blaze. As of now, the cause of the fire is unknown.

Attempts to reach Montoursville State Police Fire Marshal Nicholas Loffredo or the Mill Hall Fire Department for further information was unsuccessful by press time.

The Eldreds lost everything in the fire. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the couple.
