Fire crews contain small fire on Church Street

TIFFANY TAYLOR/FOR THE EXPRESS A fire at 118 E. Church St. in Lock Haven was contained on Wednesday night. The fire was accidental in nature, according to the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.

LOCK HAVEN — A Wednesday evening fire caused moderate damage to a home along East Church Street in Lock Haven.

The fire, located at 118 E. Church St. in Lock Haven was accidental and caused by smoking, according to the State Police Fire Marshal.

Lock Haven Fire Chief Bob Neff said that the fire was contained quickly.

“It was really contained to the front bedroom,” Neff said.

Neff said that there was smoke and heat damage to the second floor and some minor water damage throughout the home.

According to the Clinton County Communications Center, the call came in at 6:47 p.m. In addition to the Lock Haven Fire Department, the Dunnstown Fire Department, the Flemington Fire Department and Lock Haven EMS responded to the call. That call was cleared at 8:17 p.m.

According to Neff, there was one person home at the time of the fire, a female. She was not injured during the fire.

Neff said that the fire was not difficult to contain.

“We really had no problems,” Neff said.

Neff said that the fire companies used hydrants on Vesper and Church Streets as well as ones on Grove and East Bald Eagle Street.
