C&Y employees complete training
Five employees of Clinton County Children and Youth were honored Thursday for completing professional training and credentialing in the Strengths-based Family Workers program. Clinton County Commissioner Miles Kessinger presented each one with a framed certificate. From left are Mary Price, Tirzah Gibboney, Jonnay Hockenberry, Lisa Bartholomew and Lynn Frey. Through the six-month program, the workers develop and demonstrate skills related to effective family engagement, effective communication, problem solving, action planning, cultural humility, critical thinking, reflection and evaluating performance, all skills that are shared with those they help. The training, provided by Temple University Harrisburg, includes 80 hours of classroom sessions and they must pass a national exam to be certified. Locally, there have been a total of 45 workers who have earned their SFW Credential since 2011-2012 and a new cohort starts in March.
