Calling all ‘mask makers’
Enter ‘The Express Maskerade’ for chance to win a prize
LOCK HAVEN — Since the coronavirus entered our world, we’ve been asked to do many things we don’t normally do and some that we really don’t want to do … like washing hands often, staying at home, social distancing, not being in crowds and most recently, wearing masks or face coverings when we go out in public.
As the disease continues to work its way across the United States, experts are telling us that following these guidelines appears to be working… that they are seeing numbers begin to change.
And most importantly, these people-in-the-know are urging us to continue doing what we’re doing so these subtle changes we’re seeing will turn into major changes that will lead to the eradication of this killer disease.
With that in mind, The Express community newspaper has come up with a contest in the midst of our rather boring lives these days, and we’re hoping it will add a little fun to your lives and our readers will participate in a big way.
Since the mask recommendation, I’ve been unable to buy a mask anywhere in the area, so I’ve been covering my face with a scarf when I go out in public.
However, I’ve seen many people wearing masks … really unique masks … which are obviously homemade by themselves or others.
So here’s your opportunity to show off your mask by entering it in The Express Mask Contest.
It’s going to be fun.
We’ve come up with five categories: Prettiest, Most Unique, Funniest, Most Serious and the last category is for Children Only.
Express staff will be the judges and the winner in each category will receive a prize.
Prizes will be award as gift certificates to the following businesses: Prettiest (Emma’s Primitives); Unique (It Is What It Is); Funniest (Ollie’s); Most Serious (Calico Creek); and Children Only, (The Bus Stops Here).
“This is a fun contest at a serious time,” said Bob Rolley, Express publisher. “We hope this helps to convince people to wear a mask – as our health experts advise – to protect us all.”
