RENOVO — This year’s Bucktail Area High School graduates were honored Sunday afternoon by the community.

A small parade led by area fire companies and the Renovo police cruiser passed through town, with 2020 graduates sitting in the back of trucks and waving to the crowd that lined the streets.

It was the community’s way to honor the scholastic accomplishments of the young men and women who were taken from their school when the coronavirus closed all schools in the area in mid-March.

The typical June graduation has been re-scheduled for later this summer. But the community didn’t want to wait to see the graduates in their caps and gowns and cheer them on, all the while practicing social distancing.

Many teachers, along with Bucktail Campus Principal Betsy Dickey stood among parents and others at the Renovo Area Heritage Park headquarters where each student was introduced to the crowd. Each student was introduced a short bio was read about how they spent their final months of their senior year while in quarantine.
