County prepares for Nov. 3 general election

LOCK HAVEN — With the General Election just two months away, Clinton County Voter Registration Director Maria Boileau is gearing up for a busy time.

On Thursday, she presented the Clinton County commissioners with a plan that includes a calendar of important dates for the Nov. 3 election.

Boileau said the there will be a detailed accounting and tracking of mail-in ballots from creation back to the county.

“There will be a ballot collection container at the Piper Building. It will be secured and checked two times a day, and there will be camera surveillance,” she said.

The board approved the plan, noting that it still had to be reviewed by solicitor Larry Coploff.

The plan contains the following important dates:

— Sept. 8-10, Logic and accuracy testing.

— Sept. 9, Order ballots from William Penn Printing.

— Sept. 14, County must begin processing mail-in ballot and absentee ballot applications.

— Sept. 19, County must begin transmitting ballots and balloting materials to all voters under UMOVA

— Oct. 19, Last day to register or change registration.

— Oct. 20, Ballot mail-in and absentee ballot delivery deadline. As soon as possible after ballots are printed and no later than this date, counties must begin to deliver ballots.

— Oct. 10-17, Election worker training sessions.

— Oct. 28, Rover meeting at 11 a.m. in second floor conference room.

— Oct. 27, Last day to apply for mail-in or absentee ballot.

— Oct. 24-31 — Must publish in the newspaper the notice of date and hours of voting including names of offices and names of candidates.

Boileau also listed dates of board of elections meetings, as follows:

— Oct. 29, appointment of election workers and computation board.

— Nov. 4, Pre-canvas of mail-in and absentee ballots.

— Nov. 5, Review of provisional ballots.

— Nov. 6, Canvas and computation of election results.

— Nov. 19, Certification of election results.
