UPMC has deployed its SMART (Simulation and Medical Resource Training) Unit to UPMC Lock Haven for use by emergency medical professionals. Since the temporary closure of the hospital on Thursday, Sept. 10, UPMC has stationed an ambulance and EMS professionals outside the ER as an extra safety measure in case community members arrive for emergency care. The SMART unit is not a mobile ER, but will provide EMS a comfortable space to work until the reopening of emergency services. Details about the repairs at the hospital and when it might reopen were not released at this time. In an emergency, please call 911.
