Big, fun Thanksgiving Day edition coming

Your community newspaper wants to extend an early Happy Thanksgiving greeting to all!

What a year this has been … and will likely continue to be.

It makes the holidays all that more special to observe, celebrate … and be thankful for.

In support of the call to “Shop Local,” staff at The Express are working hard to bring you our special Thanksgiving Day edition.

And early-bird shoppers, this special newspaper will be available for sale curbside from 3 to 4:30 p.m.(ish) Wednesday, Nov. 25, in front of The Express, with special pricing.

You’ll also be able to buy a single bundle of The Express and its sister newspaper, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, at the curbside sale, again with special pricing.

You won’t even have to get out of your car.

We’ll deliver the newspaper or newspapers right to you.

It will be full of holiday shopping specials from local — yes, please … Shop Local — along with regional and national retailers.

In addition to the holiday edition newspaper being filled with holiday sales inserts and special Thanksgiving greetings, you’ll want to sit back and read this special edition to catch up on local news, information and sports previews.

Plus, watch for the first edition of The Student Express inside our Thanksgiving Day edition as we continue to partner with Central Mountain High School in support of Newspapers In Education and community journalism!

And there’s more!

Our special Thanksgiving Blessings section will include Dr. Dana Washington’s English students at Lock Haven University offering poetry, stories and photographs!

All of it makes for a “good read!

Of course, the Thanksgiving Day newspaper will include advertising from local and regional businesses and individuals — just in time for shopping.

See what expanded or earlier store hours local retailers will have for the holidays and beyond.

Local stores and retailers are being creative and making a multi-faceted approach to holiday shopping this year.

Many businesses are planning special sales or open houses on multiple days, starting with Black Friday on Nov. 27, Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28 (watch for more on this), and Cyber Monday, Nov. 30.

Sales flyers are being spread out among several days in your community newspaper.

Sales flyers scheduled for the Wednesday, Nov. 25, edition of The Express include Tractor Supply, Arbys, Beiter’s and Save A Lot.

Thanksgiving Day flyers scheduled include Best Buy, Lowe’s, CVS, Kohl’s, Ollies and Dollar General.

More are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28.

There also will be plenty of local advertising on the regular, well-read pages of YOUR community newspaper.

And keep in mind, up to Christmas, you’ll find weekly money-saving inserts from a number of retailers.

We emphasize: Inside this coming week’s newspapers, look for advertising from many local and area businesses who ask that you “Shop Local” as much as you can for the holiday season.
