LOCK HAVEN — Progress is being made.

Dave Harger, who took the reins to re-vamp Lock Haven’s Veterans Park last year, got another nice donation this week. Northwest Bank has kicked in $5,000 toward he Veterans Park project.

“Northwest has been a great partner in all things veterans; they have always donated to our causes for local veterans over the last 10 years,” Harger said. “I can’t thank them enough for their continued support locally.”

According to Harger, the project is coming along nicely.

“Right now we are in the process of picking artwork that will be used for the panels for the conflicts, we have settled in on 10 panels for the back story wall that will begin with the Revolutionary war and end with the Global War on Terror,” Harger said in an email. “Obviously, all the major conflicts (and) wars will be represented.”

Harger said that FaberFab has been contacted and they will likely be providing the steel structure.

As for artwork?

“We are looking at artwork for the main piece that will set on the east end of the park. Steve Getz is reviewing it with a sculpture artist,” Harger said.

As of press time, Harger said that they have in-hand commitments of $216,167.14.

“Our goal will be $500,000, now that will include some in-kind work donated as well as cash,” Harger said. “(We are) looking forward to getting with other donors here in the first quarter and getting closer to our goals for monies.”

Once drawings are completed and permits secured, there will be an official groundbreaking sometime this spring, Harger said.
